Temple burgled; valuables worth Rs 55,000 stolen

Bantwal, Mar 31: Burglars stole jewelry and a hundi worth Rs 55,000 from the Kumbodhari Temple near BC Road on March 30. 

The burglary was discovered on Monday; and the broken Hundi was found on the railway track. The burglars appear to have entered the temple by breaking open the main entrance with an axe. 

Sheshappa, the caretaker of the temple, lodged a complaint at the police station. The police, with the help of fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs, conducted the required investigation.
