Three DK urban local bodies to hold polls on May 29

May 03, 2019: Three urban local bodies (ULBs) in Dakshina Kannada (DK) — Sullia, Moodbidri and Mulki — will along with 63 other urban local bodies in the State, go to the polls on May 29. The calendar of events for the elections were announced by the State Election Commission on May 2, Thursday.

The electorate in Sullia Town Panchayat (TP) would elect 20 members, while those in Moodbidri Town Municipal Council (TMC) would elect 23 members. The electorate in Mulki TP would choose 18 members, according to a communiqué from the State Election Commission.

The Deputy Commissioner would issue the poll notification on May 9. The last date to file nomination papers will be May16. Nomination papers would be scrutinised on May 17, while nomination papers may be withdrawn before May 20. Results would be declared on May 31, the communiqué said.

The Model Code of Conduct will be in force till May 31 in the respective local bodies.
