Mangaluru, Mar 24, 2019: Konkani film director and producer Dr K Ramesh Kamath will direct his third Konkani movie— ’Apsaradhara’—under the banner of Vikas Films.

Speaking to media here, March 23, Saturday, Kamath said the bilingual children’s movie would be made in Konkani and Kannada. The title of the movie in Kannada will be “Apsarakonda.” “The shooting for the movie will begin in Egypt from March 26.”

A passion for his mother tongue prompted him to make movies in Saraswath Konkani language. Konkani is spoken by a few in Karnataka and those who have directed Konkani movie have incurred huge losses.  So far only five films had been released in Saraswath Konkani language. Among the five films, Kamath had directed two films in the past. His first movie Jana-Mana, made in 1980, was the first Konkani movie to be broadcast on Doordarshan.

Kamath’s film ‘Aa Vai Jaa Saa’ is first ever children’s movie made in Konkani in 2016 and was screened in Atlanta and was also showcased in international film festival.

The film will be shot in and around the Pyramids of Egypt. The remaining part of the shooting will be completed in Sirsi, Yana and Apsarakonda waterfalls. Rap songs and 3D technology will be incorporated during the shooting of the film, Kamath added.

The film focuses on the need to educate children, particular girls. The film also aims at spreading a message that there is no shortcut to success and only hard work will help individuals in reaching the goal.

Child artistes Sarthak Shenoy, Swathi Bhat, Gopinath Bhat, Dinesh Prabhu and P R Nayak will be playing the lead roles. The dialogue is written by Vivekananda Kamath while playback singers Muralidhar G Shenoy, Archana Kamath Hegdekar, Rajesh Padiyar and Ananya Bhagath Nayak have sung songs. Music is scored by Raj Bhaskar.
