ESIC warns people of fake schemes

Mangaluru, Mar 22, 2019: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), on March 21, Thursday stated  that it does not have any scheme wherein people can get the benefit of the ESI scheme on payment of a certain amount.

S. Sivaramakrishnan, director in-charge, ESIC, sub-regional office, Mangaluru, stated in a release that his office had received some complaints, especially from Udupi and Karkala, that some unscrupulous elements, impersonating ESIC officials, were approaching people promising to provide benefits under the ESI scheme for cash payment.

Benefits under the ESI scheme are available only to those employees who have been registered through their employers under the ESIC website. The scheme can be extendible only to those shops, factories, schools, colleges, and commercial establishments with a minimum of 10 employees.
