Free mass marriage at Dharmasthala

Dharmasthala: Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala has organised its annual free mass marriage programme on May 1.

The Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Dharmotthana Trust bears all the expenditure, including dhoti and shawl for the groom and saree and mangalsuthra for the bride.

Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade initiated the free mass marriage programme in 1972 with a view to curtain exorbitant expenditure on marriages and help the poor to get married in a traditional way. So far, 12,160 couples have got married in the free mass marriage programme.
