Students arrested for selling narcotics

Mangaluru, Jan 14, 2019: The CCB officers and police attached to Narcotics and Economics Offences Bureau arrested eight students from two engineering colleges and a physiotherapy college in Mangaluru, for selling ganja to students and public at a ground near Morgan’s Gate.

Acting on a tip off that the gang was peddling and smoking ganja, the police conducted a raid, said DCP (Crime) Uma Prashanth.

All the students are natives of neighbouring Kerala.  The arrested are identified as Akshay K Prasad (22), a native of Kollam and a resident of Kadri, Jaffar (22), a resident of Borugudde in Kannur, Nimil (21), a native of Taliparambu and a resident of Alape, Amith Srivatsan (21), a native of Kannur and a resident of Alape, Ashwin (21), a resident of Kannur, Mohammed Ameer (22), a native of Kozhikode and a resident of Padil, Akash S Nair (23), a resident of Pathanamthitta and Akshay (22), a resident of Kannur.

The police seized 500 gram ganja worth Rs 12,000, eight mobile phones, Rs 4,050 cash and 2 bikes from the arrested. The value of the total seized properties is Rs 1,69,050.

The arrested youth were receiving ganja from Kerala and selling it in Mangaluru.
