All-women Nitte team visits Japan

Mangaluru, Dec 28, 2018: A 10-member women’s team, comprising two staff members and eight undergraduate students from the faculties of medical, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy and biological sciences, visited Hirosaki University, Aomori, Japan, for one week under the Sakura Science Programme (SSP).

The programme was a joint proposal submitted by Professor Chisato Ushida from Hirosaki University, Japan and Dr Gunimala Chakraborty from Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research (NUCSER).

It is fully funded by Japan Science and Technology and is aimed at enhancing exchanges of the youths between Asian countries and Japan. Under this programme, JST facilitates short-term visits of competent Asian youth to Japan who will play a crucial role in the field of science and technology of their country through the close collaboration of industry-academia-government.

This is a first-of-its-kind programme that Nitte has bagged for the undergraduate students studying in the university.

The Nitte team was led by Dr Gunimala Chakraborty, associate professor, NUCSER and Dr Audrey Madonna D’Cruz, reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry, ABSMIDS, Nitte Deemed to be University.
