Mangaluru, Feb 05, 2016: A 18-year-old boy from Bunder here, accused the police of wrongfully confining him in the Mangaluru North and Central Crime Branch police stations and assaulting him.

The boy, who was admitted to a private hospital near Falnir Road, said he was a II PU student. He came in contact with a girl through a social networking site. The two also chatted on WhatsApp for the last one month. The boy said he had a chat with the girl on January 31 night. On February 1, he received a call from the girl’s mother asking for her whereabouts. The boy said he told her mother he was ignorant about where the girl had gone. On February 2, he was called to the Mangaluru North Police station for questioning where he was allegedly beaten up. He accused the Central Crime Branch police of assaulting him when he was called to the CCB police station on February 3. “Despite repeatedly telling them that I have not met the girl, the police kept on raining blows on me.”

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner M. Chandra Sekar said that the allegations would be inquired into if a representation was made.
