Udupi to host ’World Bunts meet’ Sept 6.

Udupi : Speaking to media, Sammellan Committee president Indrali Jaykar Shetty said July 30, Monday, the  World Bunts’ Sammellana (Convention) 2018 will be organised at Ammanni Ramanna Shetty Hall in Udupi on September 6.

The Sammellana is organised to bring together all community members from across the globe. Besides, the youths will be introduced to the rich heritage of the Bunts’ community.

Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy will be the chief guest. Sri Kshethra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Hegde will take part in the ceremony. Around 20,000 people are expected to participate in the Sammelana, he added.

He said that various committees have been formed which also includes the community people from rural areas. Film stars like Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty, Rakshith Shetty, Sunil Shetty and others will take part in the Sammellana. Classical music programmes, Bhajan music and dance programmes will be organised. The NRIs from the community will perform in the programmes, he said.

Nearly 50% people of the community are poor and plans have been chalked to take up fundraising in order to support the underprivileged section of the community, he added.
