Mangaluru, May 26, 2016: As per the information provided by the Department of Pre-University Education, as far as Udupi district goes,  of the 7,603 girls who had appeared for the exam, 6,816 (89.65 per cent) passed. Of the 7,229 boys, 5,718 (79.1 per cent) passed.

The regular students in the Commerce stream had highest pass percentage when compared to the Science and Arts streams. Of a total of 7,182 students who appeared for exam in the Commerce stream, 6,635 students (92.38 per cent) passed in the district. In the Science stream, 3,893 (91.99 per cent) of 4,232 students had passed. But, of a total of 1,882 students in the Arts stream, 1,624 (78.91 per cent) had passed.

Urban Students :  Students from the urban areas outclassed their rural counterparts. Of a total of 5,931 students from urban areas, 5,371 (90.56 per cent) had passed. In the rural areas, out of a total of 7,365 students who had appeared for the exams, 6,642 (90.18 per cent) had passed. As many as 691 (78.26 per cent) out of 883 students belonging to the Scheduled Castes had passed, while 543 (79.39 per cent) out of 684 students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes had passed.

As many as seven colleges in Udupi district have got 100 per cent results. They are Government PU College, Kokkarne; Government PU College, Kukkaje; Government PU College, Karje; Poornaprajna PU College, Udupi; Vidyodaya PU College, Udupi; Christ King PU College, Karkala; and St. Thomas PU College, Byndoor.

The toppers in the district in Commerce and Arts streams (excluding those who have bagged State ranks) as per the information given by the PU colleges to the Department of Pre-University Education are: (Commerce stream): Vignesh Prabhu, Bhuvanendra College (589/600); Neha Santosh Shetty, Shamili PU College, Kidiyoor (588/600) and Vinol, Christ King PU College, Karkala (588/600). (Arts stream): Soniya, Bhandarkars PU College, Kundapur (562/600), Rakshitha, Viveka PU College, Kota (559/600); Megha K.P., Viveka PU College (554/600).
