Udupi, Dec 17, 2017: Three pythons were found amidst of firewood kept in a house at Panupetu near Malpe.

House owner Panubetu Khurshid Banu was shocked when she found the snakes while removing firewood. She alerted her family and local residents, who then removed the logs from the room. They also called snake expert Gururaj Sanil who rushed to the house and rescued one female and two male pythons.

Sanil said "The female python is 10-12 feet long and the male ones are 6 feet and 7 feet long respectively. December to June is the reproductive period for pythons. The female python releases pheromones when it is ready for mating to attract a mate from December to March. This is the reason why two males were found along with the female python.

Hundreds of people were eager to see the three pythons at one place. Later on Gururaj accompanied by forest department staff, released the snakes in the Western Ghats.
