Mangalore, Jan 9: The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has formally warned two prominent hotels of Mangalore, Maharaja and Goldfinch, against disposing their garbage by the roads. In site of the warning, the hotels continue to throw garbage by the roads.

The district administration considers this a serious offence; and DC V Ponnuraj said that the district administration will cancel the licenses of these hotels if they do not find alternative methods of garbage disposal.

The DC issued a press release in which he said that Hotel Rangoli and Hotel Srinivas, located in B C Road, are also heaping their garbage by the roadside. The chief municipal officer has been instructed to take strict action against the two hotels. The DC informed that if the two hotels do not adopt a better way to dispose their garbage, strict action will be taken not only against the owners of the hotels, but also against the chief municipal officer.

The DC also said that large hotels must make the required arrangements to dispose their garbage without causing any harm to the environment.

In the press release, Ponnuraj also said that those who paste posters and scribble graffiti in public places will be penalized. He said that those who wish to advertise via posters in public places must first get the permission of the respective authorities. They will also have to adhere to the terms and conditions attached to the permits, he said.
