Tala Maddale Saptaha in Udupi starts today, May 22, continues till May 28

Udupi, May 22, 2017: It is reported that  Yakshagana Kalaranga, Karnataka Bank Ltd. and Billavara Seva Sangha will be organising a Tala Maddale Saptaha titled “Vishwamitra” at the Shivagiri Hall in Bannanje, Udupi - May 22 to 28.  A conference of Yakshagana artistes will be held on May 31.

According to programme episodes which will be featured in the Tala Maddale festival are: Kaushika Pratigne composed by H. Narasimha Shastri on May 22; Pratiswarga Nirmana composed by B. Hiriyanna Hebbar on May 23; Vishwamitra Menake composed by B. Hiriyanna Hebbar on May 24; Varuna Yaga composed by Ambatanaya Mudrady on May 25; Shiva Sakashatkara composed by H. Narasimha Shastri on May 26; Satyanveshane composed by N. Thimappa Hegde on May 27, and Satyadarshana composed J. Thimappa Hegde on May 28. All these Tala Maddale shows will be held from 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

Awards will be given to two senior Yakshagana artistes during the valedictory of the festival at 7 p.m. on May 28. The Matti Muralidhar Rao Award will be given to D. Sadahiva Bhat and the Perla Krishna Bhat Award to P. Shantharam Prabhu.

President of Billvara Seva Sangha B.B. Poojary will inaugurate the festival at 4 p.m. on May 22.  A conference of Yakshagana artistes will be held at Rajangana at 2.45 p.m. on May 31. A medical check-up camp for Yakshagana artistes will be held at the same venue from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on the same day.

This will be followed by a lecture-demonstration on a mobile app related to Yakshagana from 10.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mantapa Prabhakar Upadhya and his troupe will give a Yakshagana performance — Mohamenake— from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
