Mangaluru, July 29, 2016: As per reports received, vigilance personnel, attached to MESCOM, Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited recently raided the house of a retired lineman at Madhanthyar in Belthangady taluk and recovered bundles of alumimium wires worth Rs 25,000. He has been booked under section 136 of Electricity Act.

In a complaint, Assistant Executive Engineer (Vigilance) Seema stated, "Aluminium wires were found at the house of Manjappa, a retired lineman." Following this, an FIR, first information report was filed against Manjappa under theft case. However, he has applied for anticipatory bail from a court here.

Following a written complaint from Damodar, lineman mechanic (grade-II) to the office of Mescom managing director, the vigilance personnel led by the then Inspector M N Rao had conducted the raid.

In his complaint, a copy of which was also marked to the office of the energy minister, Damodar had charged that Manjappa had removed wires at some places in Vogga sub-division. When questioned (on July 18), he had taken Damodar to task and also abused him. Damodar was deputed at the same sub-division, where Manjappa was working earlier till his retirement two months ago.

An irked Damodar complained to the MD and other officials the same day, leading to the raid on Manjappa’s house on July 20.
