Special educators association petitions CM for strict measureS against crimes on challenged girls

Mangalore, July 25, 2014 :The Karnataka State Association for Special Educators and Supportive Staff submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, that a very  well orchestrated and broad security and safety protocol for the protection of disabled girl children particularly,  cerebral palsy, autism, brain defects and multiple disabilities.  Their was brief interaction at the DC’s office on July 24.

In the petition, the association has demanded  a   State-level protocol  for the protection of  disbled girl children and the challenged, under Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 and National Trust Act 1999. Day care centres should be set up in every taluk for special children from marginalised families.  Seats which are meant for disabled in buses should not be encroached by others and an order should be passed by the government in this regard and conductors are to be made responsible. The laws to deal with crimes against sexual attacks and so on should be made necessarily strict it was pleaded.

The Deputy Commissioner sympathetically agreed to examine and discuss the demands locally too. Students of Saanidhya Special School, St Agnes Special School, Lions Seva Kendra, Chethana Special School, Asha Nilaya, Manasa School and their parents were present along with others.
