Sandesha Awards 2010 to be conferred on Feb 7

Mangalore, Jan 27:  Fr. Valerian Mendonca, the director of Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education, announced the winners of the prestigious Sandesha Awards for the year 2010 on Jan 27, Wednesday, during a press conference organized at Patrika Bhavan in Mangalore.

Fr. Mendonca said that the awards will be given in recognition of valuable service rendered to society in the fields of literature, media, arts, and education. The awards will be conferred on the recipients during an awards ceremony, which will be presided over by Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza on the grounds of Sandesha in Bajjodi on Feb 7. P Jayaram Bhat, the managing director of Karnataka Bank, and Fr. Henry D’Souza, the bishop of Bellary, will be the chief guests.

The head of the jury committee, which selected the awardees, is Dr. Na D’Souza. The members are Richard Louis, Fr. Mark Walder, Chandrakala Nandavara, Dr. Sara Aboobakker.
