Retired officer sentenced for taking bribe

Nov 17, 2017: The Lokayukta Court in Mangaluru has sentenced a retired district officer of Khadi and Gramodyoga Board for demanding and accepting bribe and sentenced him to one year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 15,000.

Bhaskar Prabhu, now 67, was found guilty of demanding and accepting Rs. 10,000 bribe from P.J. Johnson of Kadaba in Dakshina Kannada district to release subsidy amount when in service.

He was arrested by the then Lokayukta Police Inspector Uday Nayak on June 26, 2009.

Lokayukta Judge and III District and Sessions Judge Muralidhara Pai, who heard the case, pronounced the orders of sentence and conviction.

Lokayukta Special Public Prosecutor K.S.N. Rajesh conducted the case.
