Rainwater harvesting centre soon at Pilikula Nisargadhama

Mangaluru, July 28, 2016:  A rainwater harvesting centre is slated to come up at Dr. Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama.

Speaking to media at the nisargadhama on July 27, Wednesday, H. Jayaprakash Bhandary, Executive Director of the nisargadhama, said that  a rainwater harvesting centre is slated to come up at Dr. Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama;  the governing council of the nisargadhama has approved the proposal.

Proposed on one-acre land would have educative models of rainwater harvesting methods such as roof water harvesting, borewell recharging, and percolation pits. It would provide information on traditional rainwater harvesting structures like ‘madakas’.

    The centre would also organise workshops to create awareness on rainwater harvesting. He said that the centre would come up under the guidance of Shree Padre, a environmental activist. Earlier, B. Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, inaugurated an ‘Interpretation Centre’ were workshops and seminars related to biodiversity and its conservation will be organised.   It has been built by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd at an estimated cost of Rs. 28 lakh.
