Mangalore, Oct 23, 2014:  According to a press releas,  Palakkad (DRM) Divisional Railway Manager Anand Prakash conducted  surprise checks in train No12601 Chennai - Mangalore Mail,  from Kozhikode to Mangalore Central.  The Divisional Railway Manager also inspected the standard of catering services in the train and cleanliness.

He exhorted  train passengers to travel with valid tickets, refrain from foot-board travel in trains, to make sure that the emergency window remains closed and not to carry crackers and other inflammable substances while travelling in trains.

Single shift:    The Computerised Passenger Reservation Centres of  Palakkad Division in Southern Railway will be functioning for only one shift, similar to Sunday working pattern (8 am to 2pm), on  Deepavali festival. However, the current reservation counters will function as per normal schedule. It is understood that more such checks will take place soon.
