Vittal, July 27, 2014, :  The Vittal police have taken a woman to custody for attempting to sell 15-day old girl child. The accused is Yashodha (40) of Kudthamugeru Mankude. Information to the police came from public, when she was trying to sell her child. When public questioned her, she did not answer. She had reportedly told the police that she had delivered a baby in Government Hospital at Mangalore and ambulance dropped her at Vittal,  and she hailed from Kadumata in Kolnadu.
When the police took her to Kadumata, they realised that she had lied to them. It was said that she had lost her husband when she was pregnant. She wanted to sell her child as it was a girl child.

Bantwal Circle Inspector Belliappa said that the woman had been insisting that she does not want the baby. The woman as well as her baby have been handed over to ‘Santwana kendra’. Registering a case is being examoned.  sources.
