Pilikula Nisargadhama model for Moodabidri Kadalakere to be developed

Mangalore, Sep 2.2014:  At the programme, conducted by Rotary Club in association with the departments of forest and fisheries, fingerlings belonging to different species of fish were released into the tank.   As many as 28,000 fingerlings were released into Kadalakere Nisargadhama tank at Ontikatte in Moodbidri.  Boating service was also thrown open to the public on this occasion. 

 

The boating service was inaugurated by state minister for youth services and fisheries, K Abhaychandra Jain, taking joyride in one of the boats here. Jain said on the occasion that Kadalakere is being developed on the model of Pilikula Nisargadhama near Mangalore and that desilting work had been undertaken at a cost of one crore rupees during 2012-13.

"A stadium has been built with an investment of Rs 25 lac. I will make efforts to secure more government grants for the development of this tank and its surroundings. Will also provide two water scooters for the benefit of those who want to have fun here, within six weeks," he promised.


Assistant forest conservator, Kishore Kumar Shetty, deputy director of fisheries, M D Prasad, assistant director, Parshwanath, Rotary Club president, Dr Muralikrishna, directors of Kadalakere, Dr L C Soans and N S Rego, municipal president, Supriya D Shetty, standing committee chairman, Basheer, Bar Association president, K Ratnakar Devadiga, municipal councillors, Anil Lobo, Suresh Kotian, Roopa S Shetty, and several other prominent persons were present on the occasion.
