The ministry has taken various steps to popularize traditional systems of medicine, and will support any endeavours in this regard.

Naturopathy plays an important role and is more effective in holistic treatment of individuals given its spiritual background in protecting mental and physical health. Work on six proposed research centres in India including one at Nagamangala near Bengaluru has commenced. A naturopathy centre will be developed at Pune in Maharashtra, he noted.

Ministry has also taken steps to provide scholarships to 200 research students, he said while exhorting the naturopathy graduates never to stop learning and always expand the horizons of their learning by updating knowledge at all times. Naturopathy college and Shantivana Naturopathy centre set up by SDME Society is one of the best in India and it goes to the credit of D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala for envisaging it, he noted.
