Udupi, Jan 20, 2017:The district police on January 10 externed a Nigerian national, who was staying illegally here.

In a press release issued here on Thursday, the district police said that the Nigerian national, Unadike Augustine Juniour, had come to Mumbai on August 24, 2011, and then registered himself at the District Police Office here stating that he was studying B.Pharma course in Manipal.

His visa expired on July 27, 2014 and passport on August 22, 2015.

But he continued to stay on here without informing the registration office.

A case was booked against him at the Manipal police station on July 19, 2016, and he was produced before the court here.

The court sentenced him to a simple imprisonment from July 20, 2016 to August 4, 2016 with a fine of Rs. 20,000. After the Nigerian High Commission gave temporary exit permit, he was taken to the Bengaluru International Airport and externed from the country on January 10, 2017, the release added.
