Mangaluru, Aug 30,2015 : Addressing a media meet,  Academy President M Janaki Brahmavara said that  The inauguration of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy office, which has been shifted from Lalbagh to Tulu Bhavana at Derebail near Urwa Store, will today Aug 30, Sunday at 10 am.

District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai would inaugurate the office, while legislator J R Lobo will preside over the function. Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Youth Service, Sports and Fisheries Minister K Abhaychandra Jain, MLCs Capt Ganesh Karnik and Ivan D’Souza, Zilla Panchayat President Asha Timmappa Gowda, MLA Mohiuddin Bava, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Udupi/Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, Mayor Jacinta Vijaya Alfred and Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim will be present, among others. Former presidents of the academy Dr Vamana Nandavara, M K Sitharam Kulal, Dr Palthadi Ramakrishna Achar and Umanath A Kotyan would be the guests of honour," he added.

Tulu Academy Registrar Chandrahas Rai B said that the Tulu Bhavana is a four-floor (three floors and a cellar) structure of 43,000 square feet, built on a half acre site, at a cost of Rs 4.8 crore.

"The Bhavana comprises of an administrative office, library, workshop hall, guest rooms, interaction hall and ’Siri chavadi’, a 200-seat-capacity auditorium, with green room and other facilities. Already Rs four crore has been spent for the Bhavana and utilisation certificate will be produced before the government. The remaining Rs 80 lakh is yet to be released. Major works like 1,000 seat capacity auditorium and museum, however, are yet to be finished. For the completion of works it may need, additionally, around Rs 1.5 crore. After consulting experts, a proposal would be submitted to the government,"  By shifting the office to the new venue, a rent of Rs 3.60 lakh can be saved per annum.
