Mangaluru businessman’s mega generosity to employees

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Mar 5,2015: Mangalore Today readers have heard of Surat diamond exporter Savji Dholakia’s recent Diwali bonus options of a cars, flats, jewellery. It was  a pleasant surprise for all. Now, right here in Mangaluru, septuagenarian businessman Varadaraj Kamalaksh Nayak has taken a call.  Nayak, MD of a Pune-based company, has gifted new Tata Nano cars to 12 employees of his Mangaluru factory and Pune office.

The annual turnover of Nayak’s company is above Rs 2 crore, very small compared with Rs 6,000 crore of the Surat businessman.  Describing his employees at CNC Ballscrews and Bearing as wealth generators,  Nayak said that he must share the wealth with those who have created it.

Having given hands-on training to his employees, Nayak told media that the employees  have  keys to the factory and are in charge  independantly to contribute.  Every bit of recognition in the past 25 years;  the NEFF Germany Automation award, a slew of awards from the central excise department for prompt tax payment, and from Canara Bank for being the best customer - is because of dedication of the staff. They deserve what ever it is.

Nayak explained that  in the aftermath of the 1974 Pokhran nuclear explosions, the West had slapped a ban on exporting precision ball screws to India. Reason was one of the many components that go into missile making. Then director general (technical development) B Garudachar suggested to Nayak that he manufacture them and gave him the know how.

Nayak started the company 28 years ago without qualms.  The product is in great demand in Germany. The company  plans a unit in Boston, US  and  expanding its India operations to Nagpur, Indore and Hardwar where Nayak wants to replicate the Mangaluru plant success. Mangalurians are second to none we always make a point.
