Man killed as bus rams lorry near Kaup

Udupi, Feb 3, 2016  :One person was killed and two were injured when a private bus hit a fish-laden lorry, which was parked, at Polipu on National Highway 66 near Kaup in Udupi district on Tuesday.

According to the Kaup police, the bus was on its way from Mangaluru to Udupi, when it hit the stationary lorry. As a result, a youth, Preetham Shetty (21), resident of Uliyargoli, was killed, while two passengers in the private bus were injured. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Udupi.

A case has been registered and investigation is on, the police said.

Meanwhile, people of the area who got angry over the road accident that had resulted in the death of a youth, blocked the highway for sometime demanding action against what they said reckless driving.

The police, who arrived on the spot, pacified the crowd, which later dispersed.
