Man attacks mother, kills self

Udupi, April 15, 2015: A person attacked his mother and later committed suicide by consuming poison at Kodlady village in Shankarnarayana police station limits on April 13.

The Shankarnayana police said Kushal Shetty (45) assaulted his mother Muthamma Shetty (68) over some property issue around 11 a.m. on April 13. Despite injuries, she called up her second son in Belagavi. He called their relatives, who came and admitted Ms. Shetty to a hospital in Kundapur. Meanwhile, Kushal killed himself by consuming poison. His suicide came to light only when one of his relatives visited the house after 9 p.m. on April 13.
