Mangalore, Jan 13: The Mangalore Premier League (MPL) launched its new logo on Jan 12, Tuesday, during a programme organized at St. Aloysius Loyala Hall. A Raghuram Bhat, the former test cricketer, released the logo. The major objective of MPL is to identify and source talented cricketers from Mangalore, Udupi, and Coorg districts, which are included in the Mangalore Sports Club.
Raghuram Bhat said that MPL presents a great opportunity for the youth to play cricket and to hone their skills. He advised players to adapt their playing style as per the tournament and to devote themselves to the match.
Manohar Amin made the welcome speech, in which he included a brief introduction to MPL and the purpose of organizing the tournament. The master of ceremonies was Kumble Narasimha Prabhu.
Satyanarayan HC, the deputy general manager of Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Private Limited (MRPL); Yogaraj Bhat, the eminent Kannada film director; Diganth, the actor; Ramachandra Baikampady, the chairman of Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation; Manohar Amin, the president of Mangalore Sports Club; Shashidar Kodikal, the director of Mangala Sports Pvt Ltd; and Santhosh Suvarna, the franchisee owner of Mangalore United Team for Karnataka Premier League were present for the programme.
The 20-20 cricket matches are scheduled to commence on Feb 10, Wednesday. The last match will be played on Feb 21, Sunday. All the matches will be held on the NMPT grounds in Panambur. The cricketers’ auction will be organized on Jan 24, Sunday. The tender applications are to be submitted on Jan 17, Sunday.
MPL is jointly managed by Mangala Sports Private Limited and Mangalore Sports Club, affiliated to Karnataka State Cricket Association.
