M’luru authorities for child-friendly environment

Mangaluru, May 29, 2015:    To observe the International Missing Child Day on the sidelines of summer camp for children organized by child development project officer (CDPO), Mangaluru. Ganesh B, senior civil judge and member secretary, Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority, inaugurated tunction.

Various organizations led by department of women and child welfare Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority, Dakshina Kannada District Child Protection Unit, Yuvaka Mandala, Jeppinamogaru, and Childline-1098 Mangaluru came together  on this occasion.


Ganesh B, senior civil judge observed that the society is playing a major role in cases where children go missing. Parents too are indirectly becoming the reason for children going missing he said, adding that more often than not, they put undue  pressure on their children, forcing them to run away from homes.  

Parents should ensure that problems faced by children are understood and they should be treated in a manner not hurt the child’s ego while, at the same time, ensuring that they are safe. 

Usman A, district child protection officer, said that it is imperative to think about how children go missing and what is the progressive fate. While some of the missing children are eventually found, other missing children are just not found he said, advising parents to look after their children with due care and love. All relevant agencies, including police, department of women and child welfare, and NGOs are willing to play their role in ensuring that India becomes a child-friendly nation, he said.

SP Chengappa, president, Mangaluru Bar Association, Reni D’Souza, director, Padi, Gulabi, child development project officer, Dinesh Anchan, president, Yuvaka Mandala, Jeppinamogaru and Ravichandra, Missing Child Bureau coordinator, were present.
