M’lore Alzheimer’s Association marks ‘World Alzheimer’s month’,

Mangalore, Sep 22, 2014:  September is observed as ‘World Alzheimer’s month’, Mangalore Alzheimer’s Association and Kasturba Medical College will organise a series of contests and discussions on Monday to discuss issues related to the debilitating mental illness. The programmes are scheduled to start from 9 a.m. at ‘Sanjeevini hall’, KMC Hospital, Attavar.

It will begin with a poster contest for college students on the theme ‘Dementia- can we reduce the risk?’, to help create awareness among the youth about the disease.

Meanwhile, Dementia Caregivers Forum will be launched on the day. “Caregivers will be provided practical information and guidance by the authorities in the field…such programs will go a long way in meeting the needs of families taking care of Alzheimer’s patients,”’ said Jerardin D’souza, Founder of MAA, in a release.
