Lonely old woman in soil-filled hut

Karwar, Jan 16: Thereza Gudino, an old lady, has been living all alone in a half broken hut, which had been severely damaged by a landslide caused by heavy rains on Oct 2. 

The lady’s house is located in Sanna Kopel, Bandisitta. The state government had provided relief of Rs 7,000. But nobody removed the soil that filled the house because of the landslide. She cannot repair the house unless the 30 loads of soil filled inside the house is removed. 

She says that she hardly gets any drinking water since the well was damaged by the landslide. Her neighbor, Krishnamurthy Vernekara, also lost his house; but he did not receive any relief from the government. 

Thereza Gudino requested the district administration to remove the soil inside her house when they gave her the money. They assured her that they would, but nobody bothered to help her. The lady has been forced to live with the debris and soil for the past 3 months.
