Labor Unions declare Jail Baro Andolan

Mangalore, Jan 28: Chief Secretary of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) H V Ananthasubba Rao said that a number of labor unions will launch a nationwide “Jail Bharo Andolan” on March 5 to protest against the central government’s anti-labor and anti-people policies. About 10 lakh laborers belonging to AITUC, BMC, HMS, INTUC, TUCC, UTUC, and CIT will participate in the national-level protest.

Mr. Rao informed press people that labor laws are outdated and inadquate. The central government must modify these laws to ensure that laborers get the maximum benefit from the legal provisions they include. Laborers must be given social and employment security, he said. 

Siddanagowda Pateel, the CPI leader, said that the CPI supports the Jail Baro Andolan. 

District President of AITUC V Kukyan and Secretary B K Krishnappa were also present.
