Krishi Sangama to start Feb 3, tomorrow

Mangaluru: Krishi Sangama, an agricultural event, will be organised by Arunya Foundation at Oddoor farms near Ganjimutt on February 3 and 4. Rice paddy expert R K Devrao will inaugurate the programme. Farmsurge App developed by Pradhwan Technologies in association with Arunya Foundation will be launched by Kempe Gowda H, joint director of Agriculture Department.

With the tag line, ‘Towards Professional Farming’ Farmsurge is a digital platform that connects farmers directly to agri inputs, farm produce buyers, farm workforce, distributors, retailers, agro researchers and acts as a single point of contact for all farm needs using digital platform or mobile applications. In the recent International Organics and Millet Fare organised in Bengaluru, ‘Farmsurge’ was selected as best start-up app by Government of Karnataka.   CPCRI (Kasargod) director Dr P Chowdappa, Campco president S R Sathischandra will be the chief guests.

Symposium  :  On February 4, a symposium on “Agriculture and Youth: Challenges – Opportunities” will be held, which will be attended by Dr H L Manjunath, executive director of SKDRDP, Nityananda Padre, retired sub-editor of Udayavani, Radhakrishna Bhadti, editor of Hasiruvasi magazine, Dr Shivakumar Magada, P S Srikanthamurthy, professor at the University of Agriculture Sciences, GKVK Bengaluru, Manohar Shetty, general secretary of Karnataka State Farmers’ Union and Hasiru Sene of Dakshina Kannada.

On knowledge-sharing platform, drones, rubber taping machines, automated arecanut tree climber machines, small-scale production machines and crop-based machines will be displayed and demonstrated. Innovative Agri Food products will also be displayed and sold. Special workshops and discussions will be conducted about agriculture and farmer community.

Screening of video documentaries and competitions for school children and public will be the centre of attraction.
