Konkani women’s cultural meet - Nov 28 & 29

Udupi, Nov 25, 2015 :A State-level Konkani women’s literary and cultural conference will be held here on November 28 and 29.

Sandhya S. Pai, Honorary President of the Conference Organizing Committee, told media on Nov 24, the conference will include seminars, poets’ meets and discuss various aspects of Konkani literature and culture.

Nearly 5,000 Konkani women from 38 Konkani speaking communities will participate.  Padma Shenoy, novelist, has been chosen as the President of the conference.

Umashree, Minister for Kannada and Culture, will inaugurate the conference at 5 p.m. on Nov 28, Saturday. Veronica Cornelio, Chairperson of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd., will be among the chief guests.Nearly 70 women, who have contributed to different fields, will be felicitated on the occasion.A painting exhibition and book exhibition will be held at the venue. Konkani cuisine too will be on display.
