Keddalike School wins ’Parisara Mitra’ award

Mangaluru, Mar 4, 2015 : Students of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School Keddalike, Kaavalamudoor Village in Bantwala Taluk lead by Headmaster, National awardee Ramesh Naik, won the prestigious ’Parisara Mitra School’ award for 2014-15.

The students, along with their Headmaster received the award in a formal ceremony at Nethravathi auditorium of the Zilla Panchayat here on March 3. Briefing reporters, H M Ramesh Naik said the school with 138 students studying between Class 1 to 7, has fruit-bearing trees, of 28 different varieties after each child’s name. The school has distributed five saplings to each student’s house, to around 100 houses in total. The school never purchases vegetables from market for mid-day-meals. The children have grown varieties of vegetables in two acres of land. There are 40 coconut trees as well.

The school had won ’Zilla Swacchta Prashasti’ and ’Taluk Nairmalya Prashasti’ as well. The HM also requested the minister to extend ’Chinnara Vanya Darshana’ to primary schools also. The school won Rs 20,000 of cash prize with the award.

Honoured : Ten schools have been selected for the ’Green School’ honour, including DK ZP HP School Odilnala, DK ZP HP School Taarikariya, Vidyajyoti Aided Higher Primary School, Jyotinagar, Kunjathabail, Govt Model Higher Primary School Kadeshivalaya, Govt Higher Primary School Papemajalu, Govt Lower Higher Primary School Cheru, Govt Higher Primary School Aanadka, Govt Upgraded Higher Primary School Bilinele, DK ZP Higher Primary School Suribail and Sneha Primary and High School Gandhinagar, Sullia.

Ten schools which won the ’Yellow School’ honour are Govt Model HP School Beluvai Main, Govt Composit HS Neerkere, DK ZP HP School Neerkere, DK ZP HP School Shambhur, Govt Model HP School Chennaitthodi, Govt PU College (HS section) Kavalapadur, Govt Higher Primary School Kodimbadi, Govt HS Dolpadi, Govt Lower Primary School Chennavara, Govt Higher Upper Primary School Narimogaru, Govt Lower Primary School Berike, The ’Green Schools’ and ’Yellow Schools’ won Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 of cash prize.
