Kadri ward to have concrete roads before monsoon

Mangaluru, Jan 14, 2017: Addressing a media meet, Kadri (South) corporator D K Ashok Kumar said all work on concrete roads in the ward will be completed before the onset of monsoon. He said the concrete road from Kadri Sri Manjunatha Temple main arch to the temple has been completed at a cost of Rs 3.20 crore. The road will be inaugurated today, January 14 by District In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai.

The work on stormwater drains and footpaths will be taken up after the Kadri temple annual festival. All the interior roads joining the main road have been concretised at a cost of Rs 51.50 lakh. In addition, the new water pipelines have been laid beside the road at a cost of Rs 80 lakh.

Apart from this, manholes have been constructed and full-fledged underground drainage (UGD) work has been completed on the stretch at a cost of Rs 61 lakh, he explained.  The work on underground cable on the stretch at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore will be taken up after the annual fair of the temple.  Space has been left for the laying of underground cables beside the concrete road.

Chief Whip of the city corporation council Shashidhar Hegde said the work on Kadri Market will be taken up shortly. In addition, a crematorium will be constructed at a cost of Rs 75 lakh, he said.
