KMC Blood Bank is now NABH accredited

Mangalore, Jan 7: The Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Hospital Blood Bank is now accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Healthcare Providers (NABH). The hospital received the NABH certificate at a special function organized in the Dr TMA Pai Convention Centre on Jan 6, Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m.

Bhavanishankar and Shriji Chakravarthy received the NABH Certificate. Suresh Shastri, who had donated blood 106 times, was felicitated on the occasion. Dr Rajagopal, AVSM, dean of KMC Mangalore, and Rajan Padukone, the chief executive officer of Manipal Health Systems, were the guests of honor. Dr. Poornima, Anand Kini, and Sushil Deshpande, the COO and MS of KMC Mangalore were the dignitaries on the dais.

Dr. H S Ballal, the pro chancellor of Manipal University, said that educating the general public about blood donation and its benefits to receivers as well as donors is of paramount importance. He observed that Dakshina Kannada district has a higher literacy rate and hence there are fewer cases of infant deaths and health-related problems in DK.

Rajan Padukone said that the hospital is putting in a lot of effort to improve the quality of medical services it offers to the people. He said that the management as well as the staff is working hard in order to enhance service quality. He also mentioned the importance of enhancing awareness and educating the public besides giving top-quality services.
