Puttur, Feb 22, 2018 : The DCIB sleuths arrested three people who were engaged in illegal sand mining on the banks of river Kumaradhara, at Enithadka in Koila of Puttur taluk on Wednesday.

According to SP Ravikanthe Gowda, the arrested are Arun (17), Ayub (37) and Abdul Latif (45). The police have also seized one tipper lorry, one pick up vehicle, three traditional boats and other materials used for sand extraction. The value of the seized property is Rs 12 lakh.

Two held

Karkala police have arrested two people and confiscated gold ornaments worth Rs 21000. The accused have been identified as Azaruddin alias Kaup Azaruddhin and his friend Azaruddhin alias Manchekallu Azaruddhin. Both hail from Kaup. They were absconding since 3-4 years despite an arrest warrant against them. Police have also seized a motorbike from the accused. They have arrested seven accused who are involved in the robbery and dacoity cases in Uttar Kannada, Udupi and Karkala and have seized gold ornaments worth Rs 11 lakh from them.
