Hotels, stalls, roadside eateries, must be monitored, ZP president

Mangaluru, Sep 23, 2016: Speaking at monthly KDP review meeting, ZP president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, stressed that to maintain food safety, officials should conduct inspection of hotels, stalls, roadside eateries and ensure that cleanliness is maintained. She went on to say that in the interest of the health of the citizens, the food safety officials should inspect the cleanliness in hotels and properly monitor regularly.

Raising the issue, Standing Committee on Education and Health president Shahul Hameed said that several hotels and eateries in the district failed to maintain cleanliness. The food at the food joints beside the roads is prepared in an unhygienic condition. Poor quality of oil is used to fry eatables. The officials should keep a watch on such hotels, he said.

ZP deputy secretary N R Umesh said the work on panchayat buildings of newly carved gram panchayats should be accelerated. There is enough fund for the construction of gram panchayat buildings.

ZP engineering division official said that shortage of sand is affecting the works. Reacting to which, Mines and Geology official said that sand mining in CRZ area has not commenced. The 19 sand blocks on non CRZ area is maintained by the PWD. The sand can be collected from them, he stated.
