Udupi, Dec 16, 2014: Fire broke out due to a short circuit at an ice cream parlour in a commercial complex here on Monday.

However, Fire and Emergency Services personnel managed to check its spread.

Fire broke out at the Ibaco ice cream parlour on the first floor of the Canara Towers building at around 5.30 p.m.

According to the Fire and Emergency Services personnel, a short circuit in an electric equipment in the parlour was the cause for the fire.

On receiving the information, a fire tender rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control within a few minutes.

“The damage due to the short circuit in the shop is yet to be estimated,” said U. Jaya, District Fire and Emergency Services Officer.
