Mangaluru, May 22, 2015:  Speaking at the valedictory of Swarupa vacation camp, at Don Bosco Hall in Mangaluru on May 21,Thursday.  cine actor Suchendra Prasad expressed his views that education should be so imparted that the children open their hearts and minds and speak out their thoughts.

Education embodies a broader perspective he went on to say that in the present age is a  crossroad were the education system introduced by Lord Macaulay is considered as the stepping stone for one’s career. But, the acquiring of knowledge and skills, which are equally essential, come through various ways and such skills needs to be imparted among children.

Stressing that a child’s method of learning is often imposed by parents and teachers  without careful consideration as to what the child most needs, actor Suchendra Prasad said that creating an atmosphere is vital to make the child understand the real meaning of education and the real education should boost research aptitude.  In the process, the talents of the child should also be nurtured.  He further said what is obtained from a new revolution is more important than its paths.

Swarupa centre Director Gopadkar lamented that education is being commercialised largely and called upon the parents to spare children from ’parrot’ learning mode and bookish rote.  Children need to absorb new things in their learning process, but, schools have been negative in this regard.

Children’s potential should be effectively channeled, without altering their natures and freedom, he added. Yakshagana artiste Taranath Varkadi, Scholar Gururaj Marpalli, P Gopalakrishna Bhat, Gayatri Upadhya and Sumadkar were present among others giving the vacation camp an enthusiastic session.
