Cycling protest for River Nethravathi cause - Oct 4

Mangaluru, Oct 3, 2015 : It is reliably reported, that people from all walks of life are joining the anti-Yettinahole project. Cyclists from Mangaluru, comprising of doctors, engineers, students, have decided to join the ongoing protests against the Yettinahole water diversion project by holding a mega cycle rally on October 4.

Organisers hope that at least 100 riders of the 500-odd members of Mangalore Cycling Club and Mangalore Bicycle Club, will join the "Save Nethravathi rally’’, on Oct 4, Sunday which would be flagged off by Sahyadri Sanchaya Convener Dinesh Holla, who is one of the spearheads of protest against Yettinahole. The rally will be flagged off in front of the City Corporation office Lalbagh at 6 am.

While the rally will go via PVS Junction, Bunts Hostel, Bendore, Kankanady Circle, Pumpwell Circle, Nethravathi Bridge and Ullal, the return ride will be via Nethravathi Bridge, Jeppu, Pandeshwar to Nehru Maidan.

A member of the cycling club, said Nethravathi River Protection Federation Convener Dr Niranjan Rai from Uppinangady will address the riders at Ullal. The ride is open to all and anyone aged above 15 and having a bicycle.
