Continuous Bandhs to Save NH 17

Mangalore, Nov 3: B. Govindraj Hegde, the convener of Save National Highway 17 Committee, informed press people that the committee will organize a bandh on December 1 if the government fails to take the required steps toward the repair and maintenance of the badly damaged parts of NH 17. 

If the government chooses to ignore the bandh, the committee will organize a series of daily one-hour bandhs at different places from Shiroor in Udupi to Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada for a period of one month. 

The others present at the press conference were Mr. Damodar Aithal, the convener of Udupi Consumers’ Forum; Shantharaj Aithal, the trustee; and Mr. Ramesh Kotian, the general secretary of Udupi District Taximen’s Association.
