Comprehensive children’s census from Jan 5-8 in Mangalore/Udupi

Mangalore, Jan 4: A comprehensive census for children will be organized from Jan 5 - 8 in Karnataka.  The census will be held at 7 - 8 p.m. under the guidance of the teachers of all government, aided and unaided higher primary, high schools, and nurseries, as well as lecturers of pre-university colleges. The district commissioner has ordered leave for all rural schools from Jan 5 - 7 and for all urban schools from Jan 5 - 8. 


C Chamegowda, the sub director of the Dakshina Kannada District Education Department, said during a press conference that participation in the census is mandatory. He informed that the Sarve Shikshana Abhiyana Office of DK has Children’s identification cards have already been given to all schools, nurseries, and pre-university colleges by. The survey will encompass all families in residential areas, child laborers, stray children, and so on. 


He also said that a helpline has been set up in regional offices. The district helpline is 0824-2451248. He requested the public to cooperate with the teachers and provide appropriate information. 


Shivprakash and Geetha Devdas, the officers of the Universal Education Department, were also present at the press conference. The DDPI has informed that the census will be conducted in Udupi too.
