Circle on BC Road embroiled in misundersatnding

Bantwal:  As per reports, Bantwal Town Panchayat had  passed a resolution two years ago to name a circle on BC Road, connecting Mangaluru - Bengaluru and Bantwal - Kaduru Highways, as ’Swami Vivekananda Circle.’  At the Taluk Panchayat meet chaired by the then TP president B Dinesh on January 23, 2013 it was decided to name the circle as ’Swami Vivekananda Circle,’ on the occasion of the birth centenary of the sage.

A resolution was also accepted in this regard.  Now, on completion of new circle, requests are coming to  suggest other names for the circle.

Bantwal taluk Billava Samaja has submitted a plea to district in-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai to name the circle as ’Brahmashree Narayanaguru Circle’. A delegation of BJP members led by former MLA A Rukmaya Poojary has also met MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in BC Road recently in this regard.

Bantwal Block Congress Committee has demanded the circle be named ’Mahatma Gandhi circle,’ the left parties have urged the circle to be named after former MLA B V Kakkillaya. Bantwal taluk Bharataratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Samaja Seva Sangha has requested the Town Panchayat to name the circle as ’Dr Ambedkar circle’.    The Town Panchayat members said it is possibile  the matter is discussed in the TP General meet to be held on July 30.
