CPI (M) to protest ills in Govt - July 23

Udupi, July 23, 2015 : According to reports,  district unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) will organise a convention against the “anti-people policies” of Union and State governments at the Sri Narayana Guru Sabha Bhavan at 3 p.m. July 23. 

Balakrishna Shetty, secretary of district unit of CPI (M), said that corruption was increasing in the country. Some Ministers in the Union and State governments were charged  of corruption galore. There were charges of corruption against the Lokayukta also now.   The number of farmers’ suicides was increasing in the State, but measures taken were poor to extricate farmers from the debt trap.

Though the price of crude oil was declining in international markets, the prices of essential commodities were increasing in the country.  The Central Committee of the party had decided to conduct a series of protests on these issues throughout the country from August 1 to 14.

The convention to be held on July 23,  was the start of many to come,  G.V. Srirama Reddy, former MLA and Secretary of the State unit of the CPI (M), would be participating in the convention.
