CCTV cameras to capture CET counselling process

CCTV cameras to capture CET counselling process

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Dec 2: The state government is planning to install CCTV cameras in all the 6 CET counselling centres—Bangalore, Hubli, Gulbarga, Davanagere, Shimoga, and Mangalore—to capture the entire process of CET seat selection on camera. CCTV cameras will also be installed outside the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) while the admissions are going on.

The entire process of allotting seats to students will be captured by cameras and the images will be stored in a server. The recording will include time, date, session, and seat selected. Later, if students wish to know more about their seat selection process, they can request the KEA for a copy, which will be provided to them in the form of a CD.

These developments are the result of an unfortunate incident that took place last year. A student who was denied a seat because he did not have a DD with him approached the high court claiming that he was denied as seat in spite of having a DD.

The CET counselling goes on for nearly 4 months and involves students from different parts of the state. Reliable sources have revealed that additional security arrangements will be made at the KEA because nobody knows the identity of the people who walk in and out of KEA. CCTV cameras are to be installed outside the KEA too.
