Bodies of Saudi fire accident arrive

Apr 26, 2016: The remains of two of the five victims belonging to Mangaluru who died in the fire accident at the United Petrochemical Company Plant in Jubail in Saudi Arabia on April 16, arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport late on Apr 25, Monday.

DK DC  Adoor .B. Ibrahim had, on April 18, written to the Ministry of External Affairs, Delhi, requesting immediate action for repatriation of bodies by contacting the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

The bodies of Karthik Sanil (30) from Kolnadu near Mulki and Ashraf (30) from Haleyangadi arrived at the airport at 3.30 p.m. via Mumbai. Their relatives were on hand to received the bodies.

Earlier, Ashraf’s brother and a representative of the company who travelled from Saudi Arabia arrived at the airport at 10.30 a.m. Though the bodies were expected to arrive at the same time, they came late from Mumbai.

The bodies of Konchar Bhaskar Poojary from Bajpe, Balakrishna from Vamanjoor and Vincent Monteiro from Neerumarga are expected to reach the city today Tuesday, Apr 26.
