Bhopal gas tragedy victims not yet compensated: CPI (M)

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Dec 3: The CPI (M) staged a protest in front of the DC’s office on Dec 3, Thursday, at 4 p.m., which is the 25th anniversary of the Bhopal gas tragedy, to remind the authorities concerned that the victims have not yet been compensated.

K R Sriyan, the state secretary of the CPI (M), said that the Bhopal gas tragedy killed more than 20,000 people and injured about 50,000 more. Although the tragedy took place several years ago, the victims have still not received compensation.

This tragic incident took place 25 years ago; but the sufferings of the victims cannot be forgotten. The central government, however, is not bothered about the sufferings of its own people. Instead of doing something for its people, the government is signing nuclear deals with America. Vasanth Achari, a member of the CPI (M) said that the party condemns a government that is hardly bothered about the welfare of its own subjects.

Krishnappa Salian, Yadav Shetty, Sunil Kumar Bajal, Ashok Shetty, and Sanjeev Kulal participated in the protest.
