Mangaluru:   Buntara yane Nadavara Mathr Sangha President Maladi Ajit Kumar Rai said Director General and Inspector General of Police Omprakash will inaugurate the census of bunts for the purpose of an encyclopaedia.  Buntara yane Nadavara Mathr Sangha will organise ’Bhandhavya,’ an open conference at Bunts Hostel here on April 2 at 3 pm. Inauguration of collection of information for ’Vishwa Buntara Mahiti kosha’, felicitation to achievers, distribution of financial assistance to special children and Pratibha Puraskara will be the major attractions on the occasion.

A J Group of Institutions President A J Shetty, Mumbai Buntara Sangha President Karnire Vishwanath Shetty, MRG Group of Hotels MD Prakash Shetty, Alva’s Education Institution Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, Bengaluru Buntara Sangha President Dr Naresh Shetty and Mumbai Bunts Association President Shyam N Shetty will be the guests. Achievers in various fields will be felicitated on the occasion.

 ’Encyclopaedia’  :  Bunts are known for their traditions, customs, culture and their social harmony. However, integrated family system of the community is vanishing  with time. To preserve it , ’Vishwa Buntara Mahitikosha’ ( Encyclopaedia) has been planned.

There are around 4.80 lakh Bunts in three coastal districts. The encyclopaedia will provide information about each bunt family which will be useful for the community in many ways. Trained volunteers will collect information through questionnaires. There will be one representative for every village to monitor the process.

It was made clear that the every family is free to give or not to give information. In case of inter-caste marriages, the family will be considered as bunts. The encyclopaedia will be uploaded to Sangha’s website. ’Jagatika Buntara Sammelana’ will be organised in December 2015 to discuss the problems of the community and its development.

Maladi Ajit Kumar Rai said that a community hall and commercial complex will be built in the place of A B Shetty Hall in Bunts Hostel at an expense of Rs 160 crores. The process would begin soon,  a public tender will be called and construction work would be finished within three years. He said that the college will not be shifted.  Treasurer CA Manmohan Shetty, Joint Secretary Kavu Hemanath Shetty and others were present.
